Privacy policy

What Reading collects

Reading uses your email address to sign you in. It stores the display name and accessibility preferences you provide, the language paths you start, lesson history, answers, and structured pronunciation results so your progress can continue across sessions.

The app uses essential session cookies to keep you signed in. It does not use learner data for advertising, sell personal information, or create public learner profiles.

Speech assessment

When you choose to record a reading response, the app sends that recording and the displayed reference text to Microsoft Azure Speech to assess pronunciation. Reading does not keep the raw recording after the assessment request. It may store the scores, recognized text, timing, error categories, and related structured feedback returned by the service.

Services that process data

• Neon provides sign-in and the database that stores account and learning data.
• Microsoft Azure Speech processes recordings submitted for pronunciation assessment.
• Cloudflare R2 delivers curriculum images and audio. Learner recordings are not stored there.
• Vercel hosts the application and may process ordinary request, device, security, and performance information needed to operate it.

Your choices

You can export your Reading data or permanently delete your Reading profile, paths, responses, and progress from the Profile screen. Deleting Reading data does not delete the separate sign-in account. You can also avoid speech processing by not starting a recording.
