Full-Stack By Practice

Build the system. Shape the experience.

My computer science education at Weber State gave me broad engineering foundations with a stronger backend emphasis. I went beyond the curriculum to study CSS, typography, interface design, and UX because making software function was only half the job; I also wanted it to feel clear and intuitive.

On collaborative projects, I often focused on frontend and interface design while working with teammates to connect those decisions to the backend. Understanding both areas made it easier to share context, work through problems together, and keep the different parts of the product aligned. To me, full-stack work is not about doing everything alone. It is about understanding the whole product well enough to contribute wherever the project needs it.

Problems Worth Solving

Start with a real need, then learn the system behind it.

I'm most motivated by problems I can see affecting real people. Reading Engine started after watching my nephew and other children struggle to build confidence in reading. Before treating it as an app idea, I began researching reading instruction, fluency, automaticity, comprehension, and adaptive practice.

The project is still in research and product architecture. I'm working toward a deterministic skill graph and progression model that combines targeted practice, spaced review, visible progress, and motivating feedback without losing sight of reading as the outcome. The same instinct drives my interest in more useful and affordable language-learning tools.

Design And Photography

Every adjustment creates a tradeoff somewhere else.

Design makes me care about hierarchy, clarity, and the experience around a feature—not only whether it works. Photography reinforces the same systems thinking. Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO can each solve an exposure problem, but every adjustment changes depth, motion, or noise. Engineering behaves similarly: a change to the data model, API, or interface can improve one part of a product while creating pressure somewhere else. I try to see those relationships before I change the system.

For Aurawave Studio, I built a confidential directory platform from data import and PostgreSQL modeling through Next.js APIs, authentication, search, maps, media, admin workflows, and responsive UI. Its first public release shipped in July 2026.

Current Logistics Role

Transportation Coordinator I

I coordinate time-sensitive clinical specimen shipments from hospital courier pickup and air-cargo tracking through delay resolution and final handoff to ARUP's receiving team in Salt Lake City.
